If we haven’t met yet, my name is Lisa Downey, a certified and licensed Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP). I’ve been practicing for 23 years—and working with children with different abilities for over 30 years—in special education, skilled nursing/rehabilitation, and private practice. I work with children who have various needs and wholeheartedly believe that all children will get to where they need to be in their own time...some just need a little help along the way. I also work with adults who have myofunctional disorders to address orofacial muscle re-education for improved function.

While many think of speech therapy for problems with pronunciation, the scope of practice is actually pretty wide! I have expertise in apraxia/dyspraxia, auditory processing, autism, dyslexia, expressive + receptive language, fluency, phonology, oral-motor + myofunctional skills (for speech, chewing, swallowing, and breathing patterns), and sensory-based feeding issues. I love being able to educate families during their time with me and often have parents sit in on sessions observing or participating as often and as much as they like. Over the years, I have been blessed with the best families, and I take pride in working together and walking alongside them —teamwork makes the dream work!
